“The Story” is an abridged, chronological Bible written in paragraph form, with no chapter and verse references, so it reads like a novel. Scripture segments are seamlessly woven together with transition text into a single grand narrative. The Story helps people understand God’s word more fully and engage with it more easily.
But The Story is more than a book; it is a shared church-wide experience. From September through April, Hope Church will use “The Story” in both our worship services and educational programming to grow in our knowledge of God’s story—and where our story fits into his story.
Our Sunday morning worship services will follow the 31 chapter themes of The Story. At 9:30 a.m. we begin with a video summary of each week’s reading which shapes our praise, prayer and message for the day.
GIFT Groups: Growing in Faith Together
Small groups of 8-12 people meet together weekly, on alternate weeks, or monthly to discuss what they are learning in The Story and encourage one another.
Men’s and women’s Bible study groups will be using materials which complement The Story studies, digging into the lives of individual Bible characters and exploring the historical and cultural context of Bible stories.
Children ages K-8 will walk through The Story lessons in their Sunday Church School sessions. High school students will use The Story as the basis of their discussions in Youth Group meetings.
